Saturn in Pisces
changing of the guard
Saturn enters Pisces on March 7 at 5:33AM PST where it will spend the next three years. This draws the last three years of Saturn in Aquarius to a close, and also, the last six years of Saturn traversing its own domiciles. When Saturn enters Pisces, it will open a new six year cycle; Saturn will be copresent with Neptune first in Pisces, and then in Aries. In this shift out of its home signs, Saturn is going to lose a lot of dignity, and therefore will be less resourced to do Saturnian things. Our lord of linear time will be in Pisces’ timeless domain, and learning to commingle with Neptune, lord of boundlessness, illusion, and surrender.
Saturn rules material reality and Pisces the imaginal, Saturn is the skeleton and Pisces the energy body, Saturn moves in a straight line and Pisces draws a spiral. It seems safe to suspect that reality will become less clearly defined, time will soften, and boundaries could become more permeable.
divining for saturn in pisces: “what do i need to know about saturn’s stay in pisces?”
putting it all together
Pulling the symbolism of Aloe Vera into this, I am first reminded that Saturn is indeed entering a water sign. The medicine of water is available as a healing balm during this transit. With Saturn entering a water realm, there might be an opportunity to rest and to process some of the content that’s been building up over the last several years. Pisces, the final sign of the zodiac, is the perfect place to integrate everything that came before. I am thinking about how Saturn in Pisces fits into this larger story: first came Saturn transiting through its own signs (Capricorn and Aquarius) and after Saturn in Pisces, Saturn will head into Aries. With Saturn in Capricorn and Aquarius, we’ve been experiencing collapse and isolation. Saturn in Aquarius adds a level of disembodiment that may have helped us separate from our feelings enough to survive, but with Saturn entering Pisces, I’ll be curious to see how unprocessed grief makes itself very palpable. There is necessary healing work to be done before moving on to the more actionable realm of Aries.
This brings me to considering how Barberry fits into all of this. There is an emphasis on metabolizing and digesting stagnant material. Saturn in Pisces will either encourage or force us to build containers to confront and process grief on a larger scale. As the description puts it, if we are able to successfully move and process, then there might be more capacity to build relationship with our intuition. This is another big part of Saturn in Pisces: tending, trusting, and putting stock into our psychic/intuitive resources, capabilities and responsibilities. Saturn has a way of validating, and making things real. Therefore, in Pisces, Saturn can help us to literally take our dreams seriously.
Considering Poison Ivy/Oak, I am reminded that this time will also encourage protecting and caring for the unseen. The part that sticks out to me is the part about fierce love and care for surroundings. It makes me think about how Pisces and Neptune both lend themselves toward empathy, compassion, and healing. With Saturn in the mix, I hope that there is a level of duty and commitment toward enacting those values.
Although there is undoubtedly a certain emotional weight to Saturn transiting Pisces, there is also an element of hope. With Saturn in Jupiter’s domain for the next three years, it brings our greater malefic into constant connection with the greater benefic. This affords some buoyancy, levity, and room to dream.
